But if you’re new to the world of vaping, there are a few things that might not have occurred to you. Likewise, maybe you’re an experienced vaper, but the occasional reminder can help to avoid easily preventable mishaps. Read on for a few tips for safe and smart usage of your e-juice.
- Every bottle of e-juice should have a prominently displayed label stating that it should be kept far away from children or pets. Some people haven’t gotten the memo, apparently. According to a study performed by the journal Pediatrics, the numbers of children under 6 years old that have been accidentally poisoned due to the nicotine in e-juice has skyrocketed by an alarming 1,500%. We think it’s obvious that, if you’re going to enjoy vaping, you need to exercise some personal responsibility as well. Keep sweet-smelling e-liquids locked up and out of reach of the kids.
- Along similar lines, many of us share our home with a dog or a cat. If you’re a pet owner, you know 2 things are true across the board. Our pets are endlessly curious, and they can’t read. Every year, veterinarians admit pets that have ingested e-juice and poisoned themselves. But most people that previously smoked a pack a day of cigarettes started off with 18mg-24mg worth of nicotine in their e-juice. We always recommend starting at low dosages, then gradually increasing it until you find your sweet spot. Try to start with small amounts, like 3mg-6 mg. Odds are you’ll spend a little money figuring out the right level, but it’s better to experiment than deal with nicotine poisoning.
